This comprehensive training course is designed for educators seeking to enhance their digital competencies in alignment with the Digital Competence Framework for Educators (DigCompEdu). Over five days, participants will engage in interactive sessions that equip them with the skills and knowledge to effectively integrate digital tools into their teaching practices. The course focuses on six key areas: professional engagement, digital resources, teaching and learning, assessment, empowering learners, and facilitating the digital environment.

By the end of the course, educators will be empowered to create innovative learning experiences that leverage digital technologies. They will gain practical insights into using various tools and resources, fostering a collaborative learning environment, and assessing student progress in a digital context. This course aims to build confidence and competence among educators, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the digital landscape of modern education.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

Participants should bring a mobile device to test online applications and platforms during the course sessions. Internet access, video projection and other necessary resources are provided by ACJ.

Day 1: Introduction to Digital Competence

Day 2: Digital Resources and Teaching

  • Exploration of digital tools and resources for teaching

  • Implementation strategies for digital resources in various subjects
  • Peer feedback on lesson plans

Day 3: Assessment and Empowering Learners

  • Understanding digital assessment tools
  • Workshop on designing assessments using technology
  • Strategies to empower students through digital tools
  • Group activity: Creating a student-centered digital project

Day 4: Using digital resources in outdoor activities and Cultural Visit

  • Using GPS, guiding apps and AI to explore subject related local heritage and interest points with students

Day 5: Facilitating a Digital Learning Environment

  • Best practices for managing a digital classroom
  • Workshop on creating a collaborative online learning space
  • Final project presentations: Sharing digital learning experiences
  • Course evaluation and feedback session

 

Note: The course program can be changed according to participant's profile, local holidays or on the availability of schools to visit.

 

Target group

Primary school teachers, secondary school teachers and school managers.

 

Methodology & assessment

The course employs a blended learning approach, combining theoretical concepts with hands-on activities. Participants will engage in group discussions, practical workshops, and collaborative projects, allowing them to apply their learning in real-world scenarios. The emphasis will be on peer learning and sharing best practices. The course is designed to create an engaging and collaborative learning environment, ensuring that participants not only acquire digital competencies but also build a network of support among peers.

The course will include hands-on sessions where participants actively engage with digital and artificial intelligence tools and resources, collaborative activities that allow educators to practice skills in real-time, peer and project-based learning, group discussions and reflections and expert facilitation.

Certification

All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation and a Declaration of Obtained Competencies, officially recognizing the skills gained during the course.

The acquired competences will also be validated within the Europass Mobility framework — participants should request that their National Agency issue the Europass. 

Our courses are aligned with the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu), and the provided documentation that can support the recognition.

 

Accommodation and Meals

Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation. ACJ will guide recommended hotels across different price ranges, but participants are free to choose hotels and restaurants according to their preference. Our staff enjoy lunch daily at a nearby restaurant offering good quality at affordable prices - you are welcome to join them!

All accommodation and meals are paid directly by participants to the hotels and restaurants.

During the course, lunches and coffee will also be available on or near the University of Algarve campus, where the training takes place.
