Experience insight alternative ways to work, prepare, implement, learn and acquire new abilities and skills to implement in your classes. Observe different school management strategies and expand your European network. Visit Portuguese model schools in different educational levels. Learn about Portuguese educational system. Understand Portuguese growth in Pisa Reports.

 

Main contents

  • Portuguese Educational System;
  • Portuguese Educational Curriculum and grading;
  • National Exams and Higher Education Access, how students are prepared and how they work;
  • Meet with other professionals in the chosen field (Teacher or staff);
  • Get class strategies insight and participate on other teacher's classes. You can choose the subject of your interest;
  • Observe and attend lessons that use ICT tools and resources;
  • Visit to other schools and companies;
  • Participate in any eventual seminar occurring during the week.

Day 1
  • Course and participant presentation;

  • Lesson observation (participant subject);
  • Meeting with teachers;

  • Teacher's collaborative work: subject lesson preparation;

Day 3

  • Meeting with Job Shadowing organizers;

  • School organization and administrative services observation.

 

Day 4
  • Visit other educational level schools: observing infrastructures, resources and attending lessons;
  • Interaction with other teachers;
  • Lunch;
  • Experience the use of the most common educational apps in Portuguese schools.

 

Day 5
  • School Board Shadowing;
  • Coffee break
  • Course evaluation;
  • Certification;
  • Lunch;
  • Cultural visits and activities.

 

 

Note: The course program can be changed according to participant's profile, local holidays or on the availability of schools to visit.

 

Target group

Primary school teachers, Secondary school teachers, School staff and School managers.

 

Course methodology
  • Brief introduction to Portuguese education, curriculum, grading and national exam systems;
  • Participants attend and participate in lessons of chosen subject;
  • Participants observe lessons: teaching, studying and learning processes in classrooms in small groups or individually.
  • Individually or in groups, participants prepare lessons, using ICT tools or traditional resources;
  • Participants share experiences and best practices with school board.

Certification

The course participants will get a Certificate of participation and a Declaration of Obtained Competences.

The competences acquired will be validated by the course organizers on the Europass mobility. Participants must ask their national agency to issue the Europass.

 

Accommodation and Meals

Participants book their accommodation. ACJ will advise participants for hotel choice in different price categories. Participants are free to choose hotels and restaurants. Accommodation is paid directly by participants to hotels and restaurants.

Lunches and coffee are available in or around the school, where the course will take place.
