AI-GNITE: Empowering the Next Generation Educators

In a world increasingly driven by technology, it is essential to empower teachers to integrate innovative tools into their pedagogical practices. This course introduces educators to practical and innovative ways of integrating Artificial Intelligence into everyday teaching. Participants will explore accessible AI tools for lesson planning, content creation, and student assessment using mobile devices. The program highlights both the opportunities and challenges of AI in education, helping teachers save time, improve teaching materials, and support students in using AI tools critically and responsibly.

* The course is held in the English language. An English A2 (CEFR) level is recommended, but trainers are experienced in helping students with English language difficulties.

Day 1 — The AI Frontier: Context, Vision, and Ethics
- Introduction to AI: History, key concepts, and its relevance in modern society
- European policies, ethics, and moral dilemmas in the digital era
- Interactive debate: Identifying risks (bias, privacy) vs. opportunities
- Experiential activity: Exploring the first AI-driven interfaces for education
Day 2 — The Creative Educator: Generative AI for Content
- Generative AI deep dive: Creating high-quality educational text, images, and audio
- Tools for creativity, collaboration, and inclusion in the classroom
- Adapting learning materials to individual student needs and profiles
- Group Task: Designing a multi-modal educational resource
Day 3 — Optimized Teaching: Planning and Personalization; Advanced Implementation: From Theory to Practice
- Strategic use of AI to automate administrative tasks and lesson planning
- Hands-on workshop: Crafting "super-prompts" for pedagogical excellence
- Machine Learning fundamentals: Understanding pattern recognition and algorithms
- Developing educational projects: Iterating with tools for curricular integration
- Reflection on the future of work and the evolving role of the human teacher
Day 4 – Cultural and Educational Immersion
- Cultural visit to the Sand Islands in Natural Park Ria Formosa
- Informal learning and intercultural exchange
- Reflection on the link between culture, innovation, and education
Day 5 — Evaluation, Reflection, and Certification
- Monitoring and assessing student learning with AI-supported approaches
- Ethical assessment practices and data protection in school contexts
- Project showcase: Presentation of AI-integrated intervention plans

- Participants receive a Certificate of Participation and a Declaration of Acquired Competences, recognising the learning outcomes achieved
- Acquired competences may be validated through the Europass Mobility framework, in accordance with national procedures (Visit Europass mobility website)
- The course is aligned with the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu), with supporting documentation provided to facilitate recognition and transfer of competences
- Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodation
